April 26, 2009
Well it's been a year and half since I last added pages. So many things
have happened and many more memories were made.
Daniel turned 16 this past December. It really hit home when I got the
letter from our insurance asking to confirm if we had a child who was
capable of driving. I had to respond back with an explanation as to why
he won't be driving and not to increase our insurance. That was
something I didn't expect. He is up to 200 pounds now and just as
handsome as ever. He sure can make you laugh. I have been trying to
teach him knock knock jokes to keep us entertained.
Kairstin will be 14 this June. This past year she really grew in to the
teenager role. By that I mean she really knows how to push my buttons.
She now is into the hair and makeup and boys. She goes to the same
school as Quin and Dan; she is in the 7th grade. She now bowls on
Tuesdays. She really loves it. Her average is a 108; the league she is on
helps her to earn scholarship money. Her grades in school are pretty
decent; hopefully she will get better and make all A's and B's.
We celebrated Wil's 12th birthday without any hospital trips this year. It
was a pretty uneventful month. Last February he busted his head open
with the claw of a hammer and had to get 3 staples. A few days later he
cut his leg open so bad that the adults who tried to help called an
ambulance because they couldn't get it to stop bleeding. I was at work
when I got the call and arrived at the scene to see him strapped to a
board by the firemen, waiting on the ambulance. They released him to
me and I took him straight to the ER; he got 12 stitches, but it should have
been 20-25 according to his doctor. The way the ER stitched him up he
has a pretty ugly scar, but he is okay with it. He says the girls think it's
sexy.
He is in 5th grade and next year will be going to Junior High. The area we
live in is shipping 6th graders to Junior High because the Junior High
doesn't have enough students to meet it's financial needs. He his happy
about it. He joined a bowling league this past August. It's the same
house that K bowls at except he bowls Saturday mornings. He doesn't
earn scholarship on this league but he will soon. He is going to be
allowed to join K's league (Tuesday Teens) since his average is so good.
It is a 107, but like K they can bowl 150. Sweet!
Last weekend we were in Winterhaven, Fl for the Pepsi tournament. They
both qualified and we had fun. They are both tied in 38th place; K is up
against 1000 girls and Wil is up against 1500-2000. The tournament
takes place the whole month April but they only had to bowl 1 day. K won
the highest game in her division at a tournament 2 months ago. In June
they will be going to the Florida State tournament in Port St. Lucie. At that
one they bowl 3 games individual, 3 games as doubles, and 3 games as
a team. I don't think they will be on the same team. Dan has awards in
Special Olympics this year. He won 1st place in the softball throw and 1st
in the wheelchair race. I can't remember what the other ones were for.
William and I will be celebrating our 13th anniversary this July; Woo Hoo!
Kudos to Melissa and Roger who celebrated their 21st this past
December.
With Love,
The Brannen's.
